Where families find

rest, hope, and home

A home away from home for families facing pediatric medical trauma

When a child needs medical care far from home, the journey can be overwhelming— emotionally, physically, and financially.

Elijah’s Heart House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that comes alongside families during medical crisis by offering financial grants that help ease the burden of lodging and travel expenses, especially when hospital-based housing options are unavailable or at capacity.

WHO WE SERVE

Supporting families when they need it most

Elijah’s Heart House serves families whose children are undergoing serious or ongoing medical treatment and must travel away from home for care. In these moments, families are often stretched beyond their limits—navigating unfamiliar cities, medical systems, and unexpected costs while trying to stay present for their child.

Through a grant application process, families and hospital social workers can request financial assistance to help offset lodging-related expenses, allowing families to remain close, supported, and focused on healing.

WHY IT MATTERS

Medical trauma affects the whole family

Medical trauma doesn’t pause daily life—it disrupts it. Parents are forced to make impossible decisions, siblings are separated, and financial strain compounds emotional exhaustion.

Access to safe, stable lodging can mean:

Fewer miles traveled during long hospital days

More rest during an exhausting season

The ability for families to stay together

Your support helps relieve one of the heaviest burdens families face during medical crisis, offering stability in the midst of uncertainty.

HOW WE HELP

Compassionate support through financial grants

Elijah’s Heart House provides financial assistance through grants to help families cover lodging and related expenses while their child receives medical care away from home.

Our work includes:

  • Grant-based financial support for qualifying families

  • Collaboration with hospital social workers and care teams

  • Partnerships with property owners and community supporters

  • Family-centered events and gatherings that restore joy and connection

Every grant represents a tangible expression of care—meeting families where they are, with dignity and compassion.

Rooted in compassion. Guided by experience.

Elijah’s Heart House was born from lived experience and a deep understanding of how isolating medical trauma can be. What began as a response to one family’s story has grown into a mission to serve families across the United States during some of their most vulnerable moments.

We believe families belong together and that no family should navigate a medical crisis alone.
